Meandering River • Contain one channel that winds its way across the floodplain • It deposits sediment on banks that lie on the insides of curves • Fine-grained material on the floodplain • As the channel migrates, parts of it may become abandoned and left behin
Braided River • The river channel splits into several channels • Small islands of sand, mud and silt are deposited between these channels • Deposition occurs as the river becomes shallower
