Book of Constitution We, the Grand Lodge, … in order to form perfect fraternal union, to establish order, to insure tranquility, to provide for and promote the general welfare of the craft, and to secure the fraternity in the Province of Ontario all the blessings of Masonic privileges do order and establish this Constitution.   10. Friend to Friend The first link in our mandate. To take a good man, and make him better. Not better than others, but better within himself. Membership Resources Committee

Friend to Friend With proper information, video and audio recordings, and procedures, this program enables us to go out into our communities with a planned presentation to better inform the community in which we live, and to deliver to the non mason, a knowledge and understanding of our fraternity. Brother to Brother • RETAIN - To retain the interest of those brethren who have been Masons for less than one year. • REVITALIZE - To revitalize and maintain the interest of those brethren who attend lodge on a regular or irregular basis. • RENEW - To renew the interest of those brethren who no longer attend lodge.   15. Officer Progression The newest link. Designed to assist in training every progressive officer. Especially – Deacons & Wardens. Membership Resources Committee

  16. Officer Progression This program will enable an officer to plan and prepare his journey to the East, and the high responsibilities of that office. Membership Resources Committee

  17. DDGM Orientation Better enable a Past Master to prepare for the challenges of this office, and supported by the correspondence course. Membership Resources Committee

  18. DDGM Orientation The orientation session are held for the information, training and preparation of candidates for this high and important office as the Grand Master’s representative. Membership Resources Committee

  20. A Case Study • Lodge is located north of Toronto • One of the oldest lodges in the area • Community • Farming • Bedroom community to GTA Membership Resources Committee

  21. A Case Study Over the past few years, this lodge has endured some very common problems Did not keep up with our changing world, it has caused it to grow old Were not successful in encouraging new members to the Craft Membership Resources Committee

  22. A Case Study • Lodge building not kept up • Actually an eye sore to the community • Lodge room upstairs, very steep stairway • Sound familiar – Have I described any other lodges? Membership Resources Committee

  23. A Case Study This lodge had 3 choices: • Turn in their Charter • Amalgamate with another Lodge • Prepare a strategic plan and follow it Membership Resources Committee

  25. A Case Study Examined their lodge in 3 areas: • Lodge • Community • District Membership Resources Committee

  26. Lodge Before • Building had not been very well maintained • Members dues were past due • Attendance was low and inconsistent • Meetings – Just doing degree work and ending late Membership Resources Committee

  27. Community Before • They were not even seen in the community, many did not even know the lodge existed Membership Resources Committee

  28. District Before • As a Lodge, they did not give a very good showing in the District • Poor support of District functions Membership Resources Committee

  29. Action Plan • Create awards to recognize members • Changed summons • Suggestions to Temple Board • Suggestions to the Master and Master Elect Membership Resources Committee

  30. Master Required to: • Prepare for a yard sale in June • Promote blood donors • Conduct a Friend to Friend Night • Direct members to visit non-attendee’s • Visit sick/shut ins and report back Membership Resources Committee

  31. Master Elect Duties • Master Elect holds a meeting before his installation to discuss: • Financial • Degrees outstanding • Building • Dues outstanding Membership Resources Committee

  32. Master Elect Duties • Set up committees for the year • Review officer duties for the year • Present a trestle board • Send letters to district(s) asking to host special event • All officers evaluated 3 months before installation Membership Resources Committee

Lodge After • Repairs/renovations - Kitchen, Washroom, Roof, Floor, Electrical Panel, Air Conditioning, Natural Gas, Exterior Siding, Painting, Windows, Cleaner, Ashlars • New - Stationery (Letterhead and Business Cards), collect Members Dues, Updated Bylaws, increased attendance, new Stairs, Money in the bank • Provided DDGM Membership Resources Committee

  34. Community After • Open House’s • Community yard sale, which happens to be revenue generating as well • Town Parade • Donations to community based groups • College education fund • Joint Community activities Membership Resources Committee

  35. District After • District fundraisers • Installations – Brethren are traveling together as a social functions Membership Resources Committee
