Between IGCSE and IB Boards?

Both the boards have there pros and cons. But it is impossible to deny the fact that both the boards are the most updated boards, and both cater the best in class education to students.

  1. Between IGCSE and IB Boards?

  2. IGCSE International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Cambridge University, is the British GCSE qualification for an international student body at a secondary level. It is a qualification based on individual subjects of study, which means that one receives an “IGCSE” qualification for each subject one takes. Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is a provider of international qualifications, offering examinations in more than 160 countries.

  3. Programs of IGCSE • Cambridge Primary - For learners aged 5 to 11 years • Cambridge Secondary 1 & Secondary 2 - For learners aged 14 to 16 years. It offers learners two routes: Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level. • Cambridge Advanced - For learners aged 16 to 19 years who want to go in for advanced studies, in order to prepare for an international university for higher education. It offers learners two routes: Cambridge International AS and A Level, and Cambridge Pre-U.

Pros • International Board recognized by most of the Universities of the world. • Students can apply for Foreign Universities • Curriculum is more advanced than CBSE • Multiple options to choose from in terms of subjects. • More importance on technical subjects and english. • Best for NRI students or those moving abroad.

  5. Cons • Fees are hefty • Usually, present in metropolitan cities and Tier-1 cities of India • Difficult for students to shift boards • Tuitions & books not easily available.

  6. Overview of IB IB(International Baccalaureate) was founded in 1968. It is a non-profit educational foundation which caters 4 educational programs for students aged 3–19 International Baccalaureate(IB) has no formal examinations set. Instead, it validates the grades of final-year students in schools that request this service and issues certificates to those students who reach a required standard.

  7. Programs of IB IB caters 3 educational programs. • Primary year program(PYP) for KG to Class-5 • Middle year program(MYP) for Class-6 to Class-10 • Diploma program(DP) for Class-11 & Class-12

Pros • Recognized by most of the international universities. • Applying to foreign universities becomes easy. • Recognized by UNESCO, Council of Europe and OrganisationInternationale de la Francophonie (OIF) • Curriculum based on application and experimentation. • Better Infrastructure of schools.

  9. Cons • Fees are hefty • Usually, present in metropolitan cities and Tier-1 cities of India • Difficult for students to shift boards • Tuitions and books not easily available.

  10. Conclusion Both the boards have there pros and cons. But it is impossible to deny the fact that both the boards are the most updated boards, and both cater the best in class education to students. It is difficult to judge which board is the best.
