emerit recognizes an individual's competence in the role of a Travel Counsellor as measured against the National Occupational Standards
Knowledge Exam • 125 multiple choice questions • Up to 4 hours to complete the exam • Tests knowledge on geography which may include a map, destination information, travel industry definitions, travel product, reading & interpreting product information and price calculations.
Exam Format • 68% on Travel Products • 17% on Sales & Customer Service • 13% on Administration • 2% on Professionalism

Industry Experience 1800 hours of Travel Industry Experience
Industry Experience Must include travel agency office hours that give you “work experience”
Participate in industry webinars, industry training sessions, FAM trips and Industry Specialist Programs • Earn credit for up to 450 of your industry hours through these initiatives
Endorsed Travel Program Credit 180 hour reduction in experience hours
Performance Appraisal • Familiar with airline and airport codes • Processes client bookings & follows payment procedures • Participates in professional development • Understands types of cruises including mass-market, luxury, river cruises, niche • Familiar with key tour operators • Advises necessary documentation to travel • Defines travel insurance terms & interprets insurance information
ACTA Agencies $225.00 Full Certification Process Includes 50 question practice exam with the answer key
Non ACTA Agencies • Special rate if paid in full at the time of enrollment $375.00 • Includes a practice exam 50 sample exam questions with the answer key • Price for the four step process is $400.00 (Enrollment $100 Exam $150 Industry Experience & Evaluation $150)

CTM Process • Enroll for Certification • Pass the Travel Manager Knowledge Exam • Submit proof of recent applicable work experience • Complete two case studies • Self review checklist of skills

Once enrolled you have 6 months to complete all steps
Knowledge Exam • The exam assesses the knowledge areas contained in the National Occupational Standards for Travel Manager • Consists of 100 multiple choice test items • Based on industry specific scenarios
Exam Content • Business Planning • Operations • Finance • HR Management • Professionalism • Marketing
Five years travel industry experience ( two must be in a manager/supervisor position)
Case Studies • Select 2 case studies from a choice of 8 topics • Each case study has specific scenarios and requirements (questions) to answer • All case study responses must be submitted at the same time within three months of receiving the case study test booklet • Responses are expected to be one to two pages in length
