High School Graduation Requirements • Complete a minimum of 240 credits: *SUBJECT AREA: CREDITS: English: 4 Years 40 Social Science: 4 Years (World Geography, World History, U.S., Govt./Econ) 40 Mathematics: 3 Years 30 Science: 2 Years (Life, Physical) 20 PE : 2 Year 20 Visual & Performing Art OR LOTE (language other than English) : 1 Year 10 Health: ½ Year 5 Software Applications: ½ Year 5 Electives: 70 Credits +70 _ 240 credits • Meet the Health, Technology, and Algebra 1 requirement. • Pass the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) • Pass the Swim Test • Complete 60 Hours of Community Service *All of the above info is tracked under the CREDIT SUMMARY portion located in lower right-hand corner of a students transcript

California State Universities (CSU) • 23 CSU campuses • Applicants must meet the A-G subject requirements • Admission determined by eligibility index: SAT (V&M) + (800 x GPA*) = 2900 or above OR 10 x composite ACT score + (200 x GPA*) = 694 or above *10 – 12 GPA
University of California (UC) • 9 UC campuses • Applicants must meet the A-G subject requirements • Visit https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/for a complete list of Carmel High School UC-approved courses • Admission determined by eligibility index AND Comprehensive Review (GPA, test scores, personal essay, extra-curricular activities, etc…)
Community College There are 123 California Community Colleges A few local Community Colleges: Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) Monterey, CA Hartnell College Salinas, CA Cabrillo College Santa Cruz, CA • TWO OPTIONS: 1. Students can receive an Associates Degree (A.A or an A.S) -A basic college or vocational degree that can be earned in approx. two-years if attending full-time 2. Students can choose to transfer to a 4-year University to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (B.A or B.S) degree. TAG Program: Guarantees admission to specific UC Campuses http://www.uctransfer.org/transfer_admis_guar.html IGETC Program: Guarantees coursework will be accepted by UC and CSU campuses http://www.igetc.org/ Seven UC campuses have transfer agreements w/ California Community Colleges
