  2. Situation • AHS MCJROTC must have a minimum of 75 Cadets enrolled in the program throughout the 2010-2011 school year and beyond. • Cadet numbers are reported on 01 October and 01 February • 2009 – 2010 numbers were 59 on 1 October and 62 on 1 February

  3. Mission • Beginning February 2010, the Instructors and Cadets of AHS MCJROTC will conduct recruitment operations at the middle schools and within AHS in order to achieve a minimum of 40 qualified First Year Cadets for the 2010-2011 school year.

  4. Execution • Recruitment • Middle School • JROTC visits middle schools and provides JROTC Information to all students. Cadets conduct demonstrations and establish Rapport • Provide • DVD • “New” JROTC curriculum. (18 x 1 Week Blocks of Training). Must be motivating, challenging, and relevant to success of student • List of Events – 2010-2011 SY, and Summer Camp • Personal Letter to Students • Take pictures and print on site. Provide to students • College scholarships and opportunities • Demonstration • Drill Team • Rifle Team • Small Group Breakout discussion with selected Cadets interacting with students • Conduct an unarmed female exhibition drill team demonstration (The ROTC program needs to provide a team that appeals to females)

Execution (cont.) • Recruitment • Middle School • Sponsor a poster, essay, and speech contest at the middle school • Topic - “Raising Memorial Day Awareness” • Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders • Establish a Cadet Board to judge the poster, essay and speeches • Awards presented at the middle school (awards night?) • Overall Champion • Top Award for poster, essay, speech • 1st Place – 3rd Place award for each grade level

Execution (cont.) • Recruitment • Middle School • Recognition Ceremony at the middle school for those students who register for JROTC • Instructor and Cadets present, in class, a certificate of acceptance, camouflage binder, and set of dog tags to middle school student who enroll in ROTC • Picture taken of Instructor and student • Letter and picture mailed to parent

Execution (cont.) • Recruitment • Middle School • Leadership and Adventure Camp (LEAD) • Conducted in the Summer ( one week long) • Open to rising 7th – 9th Grade students • To develop individual and group character • To provide fun and exciting activities for youth • To inspire team work, patriotism, self confidence, and diversity for youth • Depending on numbers enrolled, may have two sessions • Tutoring opportunities at the middle school • Assistance for middle school events
