5. PORT, CUSTOMS AND FREE ZONE CORPORATION - PCFC
In 2001, Dubai Customs, Dubai Ports Authority and Jebel Ali Free Zone were merged into one authority called the Public Corp for Ports, Customs and Free Zone.
The new corporation was given financial and administrative independence and to be run on a commercial basis.
6. TRAKHEES At the beginning of 2008, Trakhees was established by the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation with the aim of integrating licensing and compliance functions.
Trakhees is the Planning & Development Department of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.

Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) is the regulatory arm of Trakhees-Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation (PCFC).
EHS controls, regulates and enforces rules and regulations related to all aspects of Environment, Health, Safety and Fire Protection. It covers all Dubai World Business Units such as DP World, Drydocks World, Dubai Maritime City amongst others.

The EHS- Ports & Maritime department came into existence on 11th April 1999 with clear goal is to achieve the best “safe and environmentally clean Port & Maritime industry in the world”. This department has grown into a strong and diverse force in the Dubai World’s Ports and Maritime industry, striving hard to achieve our goal.

“To ensure all Port’s & Maritime Industrial Operations are performed safely in clean working environment in line with applicable Federal, Local , International Standards, Rules and Regulations” including detention or rejection of substandard vessels or vessels not meeting the Port’s EHS requirements”

The EHS-Ports & Maritime inspectorates have achieved the distinction of being the first such inspectorate to be formed in the entire UAE to achieve safe Ports & Maritime Industry.
