  2. Growing up… • In school, J. K. was not a very good student, one teacher put her in the “stupid row”. • When she graduated from college she went to work for Amnesty International which is a human rights organization that helps people in many countries who have been put in jail because of their political beliefs . • After this she went to Portugal to teach English.   3. Tough Times… • After teaching in Portugal J.K. returned to England. • She could not afford daycare so she had to go on Welfare. • She never gave up on the idea of writing her Harry Potter stories. HARRY POTTER HARRY POTTER HARRY POTTER HARRY POTTER Pull the magic book to move ahead

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone • Rowling’s first big hit. • Introduces Harry(main character) who is left orphaned because of the evil Voldemort. • He is left as a baby to live with an aunt and uncle and a cousin who are mean to him. • He doesn’t know it, but he is a wizard, and can make strange things happen--unconsciously at first and later at age 11 he goes to hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the adventure begins… Click on Fluffy the three headed dog to move on

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets • Harry Potter’s second year of Hogwarts. • Harry Potter finds himself in danger from a dark power that has once more been released on the school. • This time it is in the form of a monster that has escaped from the chamber of secrets and is turning students to stone. • Harry must confront the monster and evil Voldemort yet again. Harry Potter and the Prixoner of Azkaban • Harry’s 3rd year at Hogwarts. • New character: Sirus Black a buddy of Voldemort has escaped from Azkaban, a prison for bad wizards and is stalking Harry. • In this story Harry learns more about his parents and then more about himself. Harry Potter and the goblet of fire • Harry Potter, a fourth-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, longs to escape his hateful relatives, the Dursleys, and live as a normal fourteen-year-old wizard, but what Harry does not yet realize is that he is not a normal wizard, and in his case, different can be deadly. The future of Harry Potter... • Rowling plans to write 7 Harry Potter volumes(books). • In Future stories, Harry’s enemies are going to get stronger. • A movie for The Sorcerer’s Stone has already been released and a movie is going to be produced for Chamber of Secrets. • J.
