  3. Childhood • Moved when she was four • Went to St Michael's Primary School • Moved again when she was nine • Wrote many short stories

  4. Background • Attended Wyedean School and College • Studied for a BA at University of Exeter in French and Classics • Lived in Paris for a year • Moved to London and worked with Amnesty International

  5. Personal Life • Moved to Porto, Portugal and taught English • Met and married Jorge Arantes in 1992 • 1993 she gave birth to Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes • Divorced Jorge in December of that year

  6. Personal Life • Moved back to Scotland to live near her sister. • Taught in local schools • Suffered from depression and had thoughts of suicide • Received money from wel-fare and depending upon it.
