Mathematics At Key Stage 4 We have 3 different levels of study • Further/Higher GCSE Maths • Higher GCSE Maths to A*grade • Higher GCSE Maths to B grade
Chronology of Options Term 1 • Parents’ Information evening 21st October • Year 10 PTM 19th November with Careers Advisory Service personnel present • “Amazing Brains” Workshop 23rd October for all year 10s • Christmas tests 1st-5th December with reports for parents • Subject teachers will promote their subjects with classes, including “new” subjects at KS4 Term 2 • Early January – online options consultation • End January – Green forms issued and returned • End term 2 – bulk of time table constructed • End term 2 - Consultation with Mr. N O’Neill pupils who do not get all choices • September 2014 – other changes, subject to availability during week 1 and 2 only.
What if My Child Does Not Get all his or her Choices • Before end of Term 2 – consultation with Mr. N O’Neill and relevant subject teachers • Consult with Careers Advisor if necessary • Agree alternative choice of subject
What if My Child Wants to Change His/Her Mind after the Green Form is Returned? • Priority will always be given to pupils whose three choices we have not been able to provide. • Only in September 2015 will consideration be given to pupils whose three choices have been met but who have decided they wish to switch to a different subject. • This will be dependent on whether there is space in that class and whether they are next in line to be considered for a place
