  4. Abby’s Idea • Problem: UI is designed for consoles, does not translate well to PC • Users: People who already play this game (I personally know many) • Why this project? • Game engine tools are given; unlimited possibilities • Do something new with the UI that isn’t already out there The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

  5. Online Check-In • Right now, you have to call in to make an appointment at the Health Center. • Make an online scheduling calendar (somewhat like office hours for doctors) • Doctors on campus would put their hours online and then students could sign up for a time within the time frame.

  6. Skills I Bring • I have worked in HTML before • I hate talking on the phone, so I want to do this • I’m a funny guy to work with and hard worker • Constraints: I play lots of Intramurals

  7. Bostian– External Slides

  9. Project Pitch: Campus Map • Problem/Concept: • GPS Campus map • Includes inside buildings – i.e. takes you right to desired room number • Only includes main campus and select buildings • Could easily be expanded/reduced to meet any time restraints • Good for freshman/exchange/transfer students or anyone going to new buildings

  10. Cahill – External Slides

  11. Abraham (Abe) Coleman -Python, Java, CSS, MySQL -Website developer for UNI I expect a group to work hard, meet frequently, and be supportive of each other. Cannot meet on Sundays until noon. I am a goofy guy, I love having fun, and I can get along with pretty much anybody.

  12. The name's Abe (in case you forgot) -GBPAC- Can use Drupal to develop a website for this group of volunteers. -The users will be technological savvy volunteers from said program. -It's not every day that a project that student does is actually useful for a large group of people. Plus, you are giving back to the community.

  13. Fingerprint ComparisonLisa Diercks

  14. Takes two fingerprint photos and resizes them to the same size • Applies a photo filter to pull out the lines • Compares the two photos for similarities

Solution: A program that creates, manipulates, stores comic data, calculates approximate location within physical storage space, and creates personalized trend reports Users: Any moderate to avid comic book collector Why Should You Be Excited? • Sample data already created • Very little comic knowledge needed • Should be simple, yet intuitive and useful • Doesn’t have to use comics

  19. Jacob Espenscheid • Computer Science major with an Interactive Digital Studies minor • Programming languages • Java • Python • HTML • JavaScript • CSS • Experience with mobile app design. (android mostly) • If I was to join a team I would prefer to do a mobile app, but I’m pretty flexible.

  20. My Idea: Social Media Compiler • Today almost everyone has some form of social media. • The value of this is having only one stop for all of your social media. (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) • This would be a mobile application. • Would have a simple streamlined interface for switching between your favorite social media outlets. Jacob Espenscheid

  21. Sam Fisher • Experience: • iOS Banno Intern • Experience in making iPhone apps • Objective C/Java/Python • Available anytime to work on the project • Why should you work with me? • Very flexible • Very determined

  22. Train Lab Mobile Controller • Problem: • The controllers are bulky and not that great at sensing things. • It would be really cool to make a mobile app that could sync up and control the trains

  23. Encounter Generator • Vast databases of monsters for Dungeons and Dragons • Depth of information can overwhelm • Use a few inputs, such as party size and levels, to come up with random sets of creatures to fight, with detailed statistics available upon user request.

  27. D&D character sheet The D&D character sheet can be confusing to someone who has never done one before. Anyone who would like to play D&D or anyone that wants to get started with D&D. This could be an exciting project for someone who likes D&D or anyone who would like to get started, but just does Not know how to start one.

  28. Zach Hankins I know python, java, visual basic. I expect my group to show on time when we set up a time to met, I hate to be late, and I will work as hard as I can on the project as well as I can do work while I am not able to meet with the group. I can not do mornings Tuesday, Saturday, or Sunday and I can not do Thursdays You should be excited to work with me because I hate being late, and I will work as hard as I can and as fast as I can get it done correctly.

  36. Curran Lipsett • Project Pitch • iCloud recently had a major security issue, but the underlying issue was that it’s difficult to know what is on the cloud and what is just on your device • Anyone with an iPhone knows about this in the iCloud sense, but anyone who uses some sort of cloud storage would also encounter this problem (I know of two users that would be willing to work with us on this) • I have personally had issues with thinking documents are in my cloud storage folder but then find out they are not. It’s a problem that should be relatively straight forward to solve

  37. CSS Fun HTML Dedicated Goal-driven Hard-working Trustworthy Creative Reliable Positive Web Design Intelligent Responsible Maddie McLaughlin

  38. Maddie McLaughlin • Problem: getting books through UNI’s Bookstore allows no way to search for a book, only a class • Solution: create an appealing interface that allows the class search, but also a book search; app?? • Users: University of Northern Iowa students • Exciting because we can help UNI students navigate panthersupply.com so much better & easier!

  39. Mike Miller • Experience/Skills • Databases • Repositories • Java/Scala/Python • Visual Basic • Available anytime to work

  41. Class schedule and syllabus Why is it too complicated and overwhelmed???

  42. SMART PHONE CAN SYNC IT ALL!!! • VISION: As almost every students have a smart phone, it is easier to retrieve all the syllabus information. • Create a website that pull in all the information from professors syllabus, and separate it by names and schools. • Develop a program that reads in the date and the assignment, and store it into each professor database. • Develop an application for phone that can automatically sync the calendar of the student and the due date assignments.
