  1. Aged 11 – 18 (18 yrs as at end of term: Feb 2015) • Elected annually for a 12 month term • One young person per District to be elected • Represent Hertfordshire at national events including: • House of Commons Debates (Nov) • UKYP Annual Sitting (July) • British Youth Council (BYC) Conventions (June, Oct, Dec) • Transport Select Committee • Stonewall Education for All Conference

Represent the voice of Hertfordshire young people in the county through • Production of the annual Hertfordshire Young People's Manifesto • Lead on the Youth Summit with HCC senior managers • Meetings with the Executive Member for Children's Services • Meetings with the Police & Crime Commissioner • Attend local events; launch of ‘Everybody's Business’ & delivery of Youth Democracy sessions in school/s • Meeting with students from the British Virgin Islands to present and discuss Youth Democracy in action

  3. When voting for their District MYP, young people also vote for their top priority issue. The top five priorities voted for then informs the work of Herts1125.

  4. Idea conceived in Oct 2011 by the HertsUKYP 2011 group Open to all aged 11 – 25; voluntary participation Opportunity for young people to represent themselves First meeting held in April 2012 Two meetings a year and one Conference held at County Hall

  5. Youth Councils/Forums Schools Councils/Forums, Student Union Uniformed groups Individuals Specialist Groups – Children in Care Council, Young Carers' Council, Black & Minority Ethnic and Disability groups.

  7. INTRODUCTION TO 2013/14 MANIFESTO • Priorities voted for in Jan/Feb 2013 elections • Top Five Priorities known in March 2013 • Discussed by 1125 members at the April meeting to identify focus of surveys • MYPs designed surveys for each priority • Consultation period: May – July 2013

Support for young people with personal issues; exam stress • Increase the opportunity for Apprenticeships within the county • A legacy for the Olympic and Paralympics in Hertfordshire • Work for discounted leisure, sporting and cultural activities • Build positive relationships between young people and the Police
