  2. Characters dependant on genes • Many characteristics in living things are inherited by offspring. For example, in humans natural hair colours and eye colour. These are characteristics are passed on from parents. Many diseases are also passed on through genes.

  4. Dominant vs Recessive Alleles • The dominant and recessive genes are when the dominant traits like blonde hair. If there are more recessive genes it becomes the characteristic of the child.

  5. Huntington's disease • Huntington disease is a disease of the nerves. It is also known as Huntington's chorea or chorea maior. It is a genetic condition. This means it can be passed on from the parents to a child. It affects about 1 in 20.000 people in Western Europe. It is named after George Huntington

  6. Effects and treatment • Although there is no sudden loss of affected abilities, there is a progressive decline of them. Physical signs are usually the first noticed, with cognitive and psychiatric deficits manifesting subsequently. Physical symptoms are almost always visible; cognitive symptoms which can lead to psychopathological problems exhibit differently from person to person • There is no treatment.
