  1. Share this information with your Crews! Starting Strong! The site has returned from the Holidays with the intent to start the new year on safety in a positive manner ... However we have experienced several serious events and injuries. We are asking that you as Leaders of your work crews take some time within the next few weeks and really share your experiences during your tailgate meetings and keep your workers focused on the safety aspects of the tasks! Incidents On Site! • We have experienced OSHA recordable injuries and multiple serious first aid events. This is not the way to start the year especially knowing we are headed into one of our largest ever Turnaround seasons! Several factors have been identified that may have helped prevent these events, but we need everyone to help each and every day on the site! • What do you need to do? • We ask that everyone take some time to REFOCUSon Safety! Do whatever it takes to not be injured! This means many things, but most of all it means that if the job task is unsafe then we should not do it! We ask that you help identify the risk and help mitigate the hazards to make sure your workers are doing the work safely! • Some Tips to Help in the Field Safety Performance: • As the Foreman or Crew Leader ... Are you available at the job site and does the worker understand who they need to contact if they have concerns about a task? • Are you sharing your experiences and best practices with your crews to insure they perform tasks in the safest manner possible? • Are you sharing your Job Plan and are your crews following the job plan as expected? • Are you providing your workers with the proper tools and PPE for the jobs? • Are you working with your At Risk employees to encourage them to ask questions and help them understand your expectations? • Are you making observations on a routine basis to recognize those performing their task safely and coaching others? • Do you make sure everyone is working safely together as a team so that they are willing to intervene with their coworkers? Some Tips for the Work Crews: • Recognize that Inattention and Inadequate Hazard recognition are the leading causes of incidents! • Pipefitters and Scaffold builders lead the crafts with the most incidents! What are you doing to change that stat? • If you are allowed to drive on site, understand it is a privilege and following safe driving practices are expected! • Use the STAC card process to share hazards with co workers ... Everyone sees hazards differently and you may help prevent someone from being injured that overlooked it originally! • Remember you are stronger as a TEAM, so work together and ask questions and share experiences so nobody gets injured on your crew! Take PRIDE in making 2014 a year where your crew is incident and injury free! 011614
