What would your opening statement do? • Get the jury’s/judge’s attention. • Tell them what you’re planning to do (without saying “This is what I’m planning to do.”) • Tell them why that’s better than what your opponent is doing. • Tell them the main ways you’re going to do it. • Remind them why you’re doing it in the first place. How do you persuade an audience?
