  2. Info on the first electric iron In 1903, Earl H. Richardsonwrappedaround a brass core. He later reworked the design so that more heat was directed to the point, facilitating the smoothing of buttonholes and pleats. This iron became so popular that Richardson renamed his company "Hotpoint."
