China @ Drexel • President Fry and Provost Greenberg have made global engagement and particularly engagement with CHINA a priority in the 2012 – 2017 Drexel Strategic Plan • More than 900 Chinese students on campus – almost 50% of international students • We regularly host Chinese Delegations and send Drexel Delegations to China to connect our research, study, and experiential education. • Events focused on China
Dragons in China • We currently haveagreements with13 institutions in 7cities • SARI Joint Research Center • Funding to build coop placements in concert with alumni network in China and East and South East Asia more broadly • Six International Travel Award winners presenting at conferences in China in the last year
Drexel SARI Center Collaboration – Innovation – Dedication - Cooperation • The Drexel-SARI Center was launched in Oct. 2011 by an agreement signed with the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), Chinese Academy of Sciences • The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a leading academic institution and comprehensive research and development center in natural science, technological science and high-tech innovation.
Drexel SARI Center • Located in the Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park • The Center will be a home for Drexel’s research collaborations and educational partnerships • Educational endeavors including internships, co-ops, and symposia • The first Drexel co-op student arrived in China finished in Sept. 2012 • The first research collaborations at the Drexel-SARI Center are led by Dr. Wei Sun and Dr. Yury Gogotsi
