  4. Respectful, Responsible and Resourceful a.k.a. The 3 R’s • Expectations – vs – rules • Determined by team • The rules fall under each expectation • Rules were created for key areas on the Freshman Campus • Classroom rules should be created by each teacher

  5. Hallway Rules • Keep moving. • Find the fastest route to class. • Be in class when the bell rings. • If not in class, you must have a pass. • Follow dress code.

  6. Cafeteria Rules INSIDE? • Be in line. • Have I.D. ready. • Be seated. • Clean up your area. • Follow dress code. OUTSIDE? • Stay in authorized area. • Clean up your area. • Follow dress code.

  7. Classroom • Apply the 3 R’s to your classroom. • Develop classroom rule(s) for each expectation. • Post them in a visible location. • Discuss your expectations with your students. • Recognize the students for living up to the expectations.

  9. Attendance Policy A student is: • Tardy if they are not in the classroom when the bell rings.(1st – 3rd offense teacher consequence parental contact/4th offense office referral) • Absent if not in class for half the classtime.

Attendance • Observe 10/10 rule- no passes first ten minutes of class- no passes last ten minutes of class • Attendance- Must be taken within first ten minutes of each period.- If you don’t have eClass send a hard copy to the attendance office every period.- If you write over ISS/Field Trip signifier in eClass let the attendance office know in order to update it.

Write Referral (Attach previous interventions, if applicable). Send the student with the referral to the Dean’s Office.  IMMEDIATE ADMIN RESPONSE NEEDED. 9th call: 2511 or 2510 Main call: 2212 Provide details w/o alerting your class. 2nd Offense (Same behavior) Teacher intervention Documentation on teacher-based form Behavior ceases. No further action. Administration determines course of action or consequences Use intercom call button and request an administrator to your room immediately. Classroom Managed: Classroom disruption, minor profanity, cheating, etc. Office Managed: Minor behavior that has not improved with interventions or 1st major offense. Crisis: Potentially unsafe environment, suspicion of criminal behavior. 3rd Offense (Same behavior) Teacher Intervention Contact Parent Documentation on teacher-based form Behavior ceases. No further action. a) Phone call to parent and copy of referral and/or letter sent to the parent. b) Input info into CICS; school retains copies c) Copy of referral to teacher (if applicable). Situation assessed and action implemented. 4th Offense (Same behavior) Follow referral procedure for admin. intervention. 7/28/05 UHS PBS Team

  13. Detentions • Tuesday and Thursday after school (2:30 – 3: 30 pm) in the Freshmen Media Center Professional Room. • Students are to bring classroom assignments and/or study material, although the teacher or detention hall personnel may designate other academic assignments. • A one-day suspension or a Wednesday detention will be issued to the student who receives five detentions (or multiples thereof) within a nine-week marking period. Suspensions will occur after the fifth detention has been served. Work missed, including tests and quizzes, can be made up.

Detentions • Lunch detentions will be assigned every Tuesday and Thursday: A Lunch 10:30- 11:00 AM B Lunch 11:30- 12:05 AM • Students are encouraged to bring lunch the day of the assigned detention OR student will get lunch and report to Rm. 107/Freshman Campus. • Detentions may only be issued at the discretion of a dean/administrator.

  15. Wednesday School • Wednesday after school (1:30 – 4:30 pm) in the Freshman Campus Cafeteria. • Students are to bring classroom assignments and/or study material, although the teacher or detention monitor may designate other academic/life skill assignments or manual labor. • A one-day suspension will be issued to the student who receives three Wednesday School detentions (or multiples thereof) within a nine-week marking period. Suspensions will occur after the thirddetention has been served.
