Do not confuse … • Learning styles with learning strategies. • A strategy is how you choose to learn or study. • You might use note cards, flip charts, color slides, or a study group.
On page 183 … • Take the Learning Evaluation and Assessment Directory. • Your results should be quite similar to the Learning Channel Preference sheet, as well as the Sensory Preferences inventory.
Review your scores • Find your top score and discover whether you are • Eye smart (visual) • Ear smart (auditory) • Action smart (tactile)
Reflect on your strength • Realize you will have instructors … and bosses, who have different strengths than yours. • Talk to them and explain how you best learn. • Ask for handouts, outlines, or if you can tape record a lecture.
