Stage 2: Oral Tradition Description: • When Jesus’ disciples passed down the stories of his words and actions. These stories took various “forms,” or genres, including miracle stories, parables, pronouncement stories, and others.(Strauss) 2. Stage 3: The written tradition Description: When the early church began putting this material into various written forms for the following purpose: Teaching, evangelism, and to retain a faithful record of the words and deeds of Jesus.(Strauss) 2.
