My Adventure Through Some National Parks By: Justin Kurnik
Some Background about these Photos. When I was much younger at the age of 8 my aunt purchased a camper. My mother and aunt then decided that because they were both teachers, the summer time would be a great time to take my brother and I on a tour of many of our national parks. For the next 5 years every summer we would pack the camper and visit these parks going on vacation for sometimes as long as 7 weeks. At my young age I think I was very ungrateful for this but now I wish I could really go back and enjoy nature. This slideshow will include a very small selection of some of the photos we took on these summer vacations.
This is a photo of my brother and I standing in front of one of the most famous geysers in the world Old Faithful. This picture was taken at Yellowstone national park. Geysers work when water deep down in the earth pressurizes from heat and then shoots the water out from a build up of preassure.
This picture is of a small waterfall in Shenandoah national park.
This picture also shows a stream but in a much different enviornment than the last. The stream carries the rocks down the hill and you can see how there is large rocks on the side of the stream. I believe this is Yellowstone but I can’t quite remember.
This picture was taken in Acadia National Park. It shows a great example of some of the rocky beaches there. You can see there is little sediment on this beach much like we talked about in class.
This photo shows parts of the Rocky Mountain chain in the background. In calss we discussed how drag from warmslab in the earth is one of the possibilities that caused the mountains to rise.
This is a picture of some bison, I thought this was taken in the badlands, but with all the green and trees in the background I am going to say that is incorrect. However you can see the hill sin the background and how little vegetation is where the bison are at.
I think working on this assignment has really made me go back and look at some of the pictures we had taken on trips from awhile ago. This has really made me consider on my next vacation going back to many of these places to enjoy the nature once again.
