FUNCEME is working within a research and delivery network (CRAMALA) which fully integrates scientists and stakeholders to address comprehensively the issue of climate related risks in agriculture for improving productivity, profitability and risk management Sponsor: IAI Cooperation: IRI See the note « FUNCEME’s Potential Participation in CLARIS » for details
Proposition for a Participation of FUNCEME in Project CLARIS C) Effective Participation in Post-CLARIS - after 2006 Task 5: CLARIS-WP4.3: Cloud-Aerosol-Radiation Interaction Principal investigator: Alexandre Araujo Costa (FUNCEME)
FUNCEME participates in a scientific program of cloud physics and aerosols observations using the facilities of the State University of Ceará (UECE) that includes an instrumented aircraft Bandeirante This aircraft participated in different field campaigns over Northeast Brazil (“Ceará Experiment”) and the Amazon (LBA-SMOCC-EMfiN!)

With that instrumented aircraft, FUNCEME could contribute significantly to better understand the physical processes concerning cloud and precipitation development over distinct places in South America See the notes « FUNCEME’s Potential Participation in CLARIS » and “avião-escopo.doc” (in portuguese) for details
In conclusion … • The Participation of FUNCEME in CLARIS (and Post-CLARIS) Could Bring: • A Complete Agro-Hydro-Meteorological Data Set (Ceará, Nordeste) • Extension of the Knowledge in the Climat-Dengue Relationship (with different climatic conditions) • Competence and Cooperation in Downscalling Processes (RSM, RAMS, …) • Experience in Climate-Agriculture Relationship (in association with other partners: IRI, …) • Technical and Scientific Contribution in the Cloud-Aerosol- Radiation Studies (different regions, different conditions)
Furthermore … FUNCEME proposes to organize, at Fortaleza, in June 2006, A Dedicated South America Climate Congress (including CLARIS-2) in collaboration with the EGS (European Geophysical Society) and the CLARIS Community
