Introduction • Digitization started at Public Library Cacak in 2006 • First project: web galleries of scanned and manually described postcards and photos from Local History Collections • Creation of new web site assumed that web content should be easy accessible for users – getting closer toward E-Library

  3. New website of Library in September 2006 • it comprises electronic publications along the first version of Digital Library • The Name – E-Library vs Digital Library • Conclusion: Digital Library is part of E-Library, maybe the most important one • Stress on information • not static content, better opportunity for information search • not PDF for download, better full text (OCR)

  4. Current work • Speeding up things from late 2007 • help of freelance programmer • creation of database • making separate website • two successful government financed projects, for equipment and paid stuff for digitization • paying more attention on standards • extensive digitization of Local History Collections in 2008

Results • Digital Library project website www.cacak-dis.rs/dig_bibl/index.html • more than 20.000 scanned and photographed pages and counting • 5.000 pages published online, fully searchable (by author, title, keyword, full text) • Blog “Digitization and Digital Libraries” http://digital.cacak-dis.rs
