  3. Introduction- About myself.. • Spent 4 years with Prairie Seeds Academy • Secondary Lead Teacher • IB Coordinator • Math Teacher • Member of Leadership & Q-Comp team • New Position in Nenana, AK • Part-time teacher and administrator • Father and Husband

Areas of Growth • Working with and more experience in early elementary grades in terms of curriculum and development • Continue to develop more background and knowledge with Policy and Law, especially in terms of analyzing AK’s system • Building more knowledge on community relations in urban and rural areas • Continue to build on my working definitions of school finance

Areas of Growth (Continued) • Judgment and problem analysis- continued development • Student Discipline Plans (More Development) • Balancing varied and competing interests to ensure the mission and vision of the school district is carried forward • More experience in interacting with local and state government • Learning and observing various master instructional schedules that are most effective • Spend more time understanding the roles played by other community leaders in the school district

Professional Development Plan • Attend the monthly School Board Meetings • Attend leadership conferences, workshops, in AK and other locations • Continue to expand with literature regarding best practices • Subscribe to educational journals and stay current with educational topics and reflect • More training in Charlotte Danielson • Continued membership with ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development)

Professional Development Plan (Continued) • Work towards better understanding of philosophical and cultural values through committees and departments • Focus on budgeting • Spend more time reading articles about budgeting, talking with school professionals and looking at other models of budgeting in other districts. Build on working definitions • Continue connections and reaching out towards students, community members and other stakeholders • Continue to research for new resources within technology • Doing my research to find similarities and differences among policies and law from AK and MN • Continuous discussions with principals and Superintendents to build up knowledge and share ideas with (Networking)

  11. Philosophy of Education Every student has the right and ability to learn. Students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of experiences and cultures. Thus, the importance for educators to create lessons and units that are relevant and rigorous to engage learning. Ongoing assessments are giving students continuous feedback to improve their skills and success. Literacy is authentic and achievable at high levels through guaranteed and viable curriculum. Educators are continuously reflecting on students successes and weaknesses. There are opportunities for educators in professional development to meet the specific needs and provide them with the tools to improve instruction, assessments, find their perfect craft, and to provide the best learning environments for students. Multiple stakeholders are involved in the process for improving student achievement in the best and most engaging way for students.
