It contains five essential parts: • 1. RECEPTOR: a specialized sensor that detects different types of stimuli:
2. SENSORY NEURON: carries information from the receptor to the spinal cord. • 3. INTERNEURON: a relay station that sends the impulse to a motor neuron, found in the spinal cord, it does not interpret the impulse
4. MOTOR NEURON: conducts the impulse from the spinal cord to the effector. • 5. EFFECTOR: part of the organism that will produce a response ex: muscles
