Leaving the Crate(control starts here) • Open the door • Hairball stays put until called • Hairball comes directly to your side • Put on the lead, collar, etc. • Walk Hairball to airing area under control
Always air out your dogbefore you run! • Prevents injury and the distraction • Prior to training or testing (routine) • Find a suitable safe area (ask the marshal) • Throw fun bumpers (and/or a release command) • Control issues or just want a slow warm-up? • Place a bumper in his mouth • Give a release command
Marking Drills Basics • Drill versus Set-ups 4 -1 ratio • Always lots of singles • Teach short and clean • Slowly increase difficulty • Stickmen (cheap labor) • Holding blinds • Hidden guns • Mix and match stations
Hillmann on Marks • Watch the Bird • Get the Bird you are sent for • Don’t cheat • Use orange bumpers – nose is the key • Focus on the area of the fall • Nearly everything is 50, 75, 100
Hillmann • It all starts with the sit command • Butt down • Relaxed • Sit and low nick • Praise-praise-praise • Lots of fun bumpers • Sets up ‘home plate’ marking
