  1. Nuclear Biological Chemical Chemical Biological Radiological AIRCREWCBR ENSEMBLECMU-29(V)2/P Overvest

  2. TERMINAL OBJECTIVE 2.2.0 To increase familiarity with the components, installation and fitting of the CMU-29(V)2/P overvest.

  3. ENABLING OBJECTIVES 2.2.1 Describe the CMU-29(V)2 overvest 2.2.2 Describe the regulator installation procedures 2.2.3 Describe the aircrew fitting procedures 2.2.4 Describe the procedures for CMU-33/P or SV-2B integration with the CBR overvest 2.2.5 Discuss maintenance and inspection procedures

  4. OVERVIEW • Introduction to CMU-29 • Installation • Fitting • Integration • Inspections

  5. INTRODUCTION • All information for the overvest can be found in NAVAIR 13-1-6.7-2 • For fixed wing aircrews when the A/P22P-14(V)2 thru(V)4 CBR Respirator Assembly variants are worn. • Worn over either the CMU-23A/P (SV-2B) or CMU-33/P (AIRSAVE).* • Stores the Respirator Assembly pusher fan and filter canister and various survival items. *Helo AIRSAVE and SV2 have connectors which allow system to be directly attached , thus no need for the overvest

  6. INTRODUCTION

  7. INSTALLATION • Place on a clean/dry surface, pockets facing up and slide fastener on the left. • Stow pusher fan and 900 rubber molding into retention pocket • Weave the snap fastener tabs on the H-manifold • Close the pocket slide fastener • Secure in place with snap fastener socket set. • Route pusher fan power cable

  8. INSTALLATIONCRU-79/P

  9. INSTALLATIONCRU-79/P • Enlarge the waist area of the overvest • Pass seat kit hose through the rectangular opening. • Secure the hook and pile tape and close fastener. • Secure the regulator pocket • Route the regulator hose.

  10. INSTALLATIONCRU-82/P,CRU-88/P,CRU-103/P

  11. INSTALLATIONCRU-82/P,CRU-88/P,CRU-103/P • Lay out the pocket with opening on the left. • Insert regulator, outlet end first and ID plate facing up. • Attach pocket to vest

  12. INSTALLATION OF FLASHLIGHT • Insert cable tie through retention strap • Route tie around neck and underneath clip • Insert flashlight through vest strap

  13. GENERAL FITTING • One size fits all • Adjustments made both standing and sitting • Install Respirator Assemblies into the Overvest • Don last. • Ensure overvest straps do not interfere with aircrew life preserver.

  14. CMU-33/P INTEGRATION 1. Remove radio pocket from CMU-33/P 2. Don CMU-33/P 3. Don respirator assembly. Ensure Pusher Fan “ON” 4. Don CMU-29(V)2/P overvest and route LPU-33/P tiedowns. 5. Center H-manifold between LPU-33 lobes Refer to NAVAIR 13-1-6-7.4 paragraph 3-42

  15. CMU-33/P INTEGRATION 6. Install windblast straps 7. Route excess strap through tri-lock and secure tacking. 8. Reinstall radio pocket on CMU-33/P. 9. Secure LPU-33/P retention strap hooks and CMU-33/P waist belt loops to torso harness D-ring.

  16. SV-2B INTEGRATION 1. Don SV-2B and LPU collar lobe 2. Don respirator assembly, Pusher Fan “ON” 3. Don CMU-29(V)2/P. 4. Center H-manifold high enough to permit unrestrained head rotation. 5. Connect two CMU-29(V)2/P windblast straps.

  17. SV-2B INTEGRATION 6. Route excess strap through tri-lock and secure by tacking. 7. Connect LPU collar lobe retention strap hooks 8. Adjust straps and weave free ends. 9. Make reference marks with tailor’s chalk 10. Tack all straps and fold free ends.

  18. MAINTENANCE • Repairs or other maintenance actions required shall be performed by O-level or above. All maintenance actions and inspection shall be recorded in accordance with OPNAVINST 4790.2 series

  19. INSPECTIONS Place-In-Service and Special Inspections are performed at O-level or above in accordance with paragraph 6-135 of NAVAIR 13-1-6.7-2. Place in service and every 90 days thereafter unless stored for extended periods of time.

  20. REPAIRS and REPLACEMENTS

  21. Lesson Learned • Ensure when donning that the Overvest does not interfere with the aircrew’s life preserver

  22. Questions? • What side of the vest is the Flashlight located? • When must the vest be inspected? • How is the CBR gear integrated to the CMU-33?
