  4. Leadership -- What is it? The process by which an agent induces a subordinate to behave in a desired manner Bennis, 1959

  5. Leadership -- What is it? An interpersonal relationship in which others comply because they want to, not because they have to. Merton, 1959; Hogan, Curphy and Hogan, 1994

  6. Leadership -- What is it? Transforming followers, creating visions of the goals they may obtain, and articulating the ways they may obtain those goals. Bass, 1985; Tichy and Devanna, 1986

  7. Leadership -- What is it? Directing and coordinating the work of group members. Fielder, 1967

  8. Leadership -- What is it? Creating and environment in which good people can accomplish great things. General John Michael Loh
