  2. Board Approved • On December 15, 2008, the superintendent identified an area in central Bradenton where students would have the right of first refusal to attend GD Rogers Garden Elementary. That means that if a student applies and the parent signs a behavior, uniform, and volunteerism agreement, the student may attend. • GD Rogers Garden Elementary will not have an attendance boundary. All students must apply and sign the parent agreement to attend.

  3. Realignment Process • Realignment procedures are included in the district’s Policies & Procedures Manual, Policy 5.7, Student Assignment • The realignment committee consists of representatives from the schools and communities potentially affected. • The process provides timelines and meeting dates for committee members.

  4. Schedule of Meetings • January 15, 2009 – Organizational Meeting • January 16 to February 4 – Individual Committees • February 5, 2009 – Reconvene with Superintendent • February 12, 2009 – Board Workshop • February 13 to March 15 – Advertise to Public • March 16, 2009 – Recommended date for Public Hearing and Board Meeting

Boundary Factors & Parameters • Capacity of each school facility • Natural boundaries - rivers, highways, railroads • Distance students travel to and from school • Socioeconomic composition of schools impacted by boundary changes. • All race neutral factors as they reflect the district-wide demographics.
