Planning Considerations • Flooding in South Florida is occurring • Vulnerable population estimated at 2.6 million for South Florida including the Keys. • Evacuation participation expected to be heavy. • A significant percentage of elderly residents live in the southwest Florida area. • Plan for Cat 3 landfall. • Inland counties in south and central Florida will also evacuate. • Evacuees from other states must be re-evacuated. • Residual effects from the 2004 Hurricane Season. ESF 6 – Mass Care • Current Issues • 10 shelters open with a population of 183 • 10 ARC Kitchens will be staged Monday in Marianna & Leesburg • 20 ARC ERV’s being staged in Orlando, an additional 25 being identified • TSA has 1 kitchen available in Florida, additional kitchens being identified • 11 TSA canteens on hand in Florida, 10 on standby in other states • Unmet Needs • None at this time • Future Operations • Support the evacuation • Prepare to deploy and support kitchens Up Next – ESF 8

ESF 8 – Health & Medical • Current Issues • As of 1500, 2 Special Needs Shelters (SpNS) are open • Miami-Dade Co. at Florida Atlantic University is taking Monroe County special needs clients. • Lee Co. at Ray Pottorf Elementary School. 62 patients/caregivers. • Deployed 2 SpNS regional coordinators to assist in Risk Areas • Other SpNS Shelters will open as needed, depending on evacuation orders • Lower Keys Medical Center: ER open for Basic Services only until 1200 on 23 Oct 2005 • Mariner’s Hospital: ER open for Basic Services only until 1200 on 23 Oct 2005 • Fisherman’s Hospital: ER open for Basic Services only until 1200 on 23 Oct 2005 • 11 Intermediate Care Facilities have evacuated in Lee, Miami-Dade, and St. Lucie Counties
ESF 8 – Health & Medical • Current Issues (continued) • Additional Activities • Implemented AHCA policy for prescription drug availability for Medicaid patients • Staged 164 Federal Health & Medical Personnel in Orlando. • Staged Federal Health & Medical equipment and supplies in Orlando • Gasoline siphoning exposures reported in Broward (1) and Seminole (1) Counties • Coordinating with Weather Channel to provide health messages to editorial staff

ESF 11 – Food & Water • Current Issues • 50 trucks of water in White Springs • 25 trucks of Ice in White Springs, additional 25 truckloads due to arrive on Sunday • Additional 170 trucks of water and 150 trucks of ice in storage • Coordinating with vendors and logistics for transportation and delivery of additional loads as needed • Received 1 truckload of baby food; another 2 truckloads en-route due to arrive Sunday • Placed order with USDA for canned meats • Over 90,000 cases of USDA foods on hand in state contracted warehouse
