Explain why the Germans disliked the Treaty of Versailles.( 8 marks) • Germany had to pay reparations to the allies • Reparations were eventually fixed at £6600 million. • Germany lost all its colonies. • The 11 German colonies in Africa and the far East were given to the victors as ‘mandates’ territories to look after. • German Military was cut • 100, 000 soldiers • 6 battleships, 6 cruisers, 12 destroyers and 12 torpedo boats. The rest of the fleet had to be destroyed. They were allowed no submarines. • No air force. • The Rhineland was demilitarised ( the German army was not allowed in this areas that bordered with France November Criminals Dolchstoss
