Lovecraft lived from: 9:00 AM Aug. 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937. • He was born at 194 (now numbered 454) Angell Street in Providence, Rhode Island. • He died in Jane Brown Memorial Hospital on March 15, 1937 and was buried 3 days later. • Howard Philips Lovecraft’s writing have inspired or configured in some way almost all present Sci-fi and weird fiction literature.
Writings • H.P. Lovecraft is probably best known for shadow over innsmouth. Though he has written around 100 books and many articles. • He is most renouned for the mythology he created. The figurehead for the mythology is Cthulhu Fhtagn, Cthulhu is described as"...an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings", and "a mountain walked or stumbled”.
Interesting facts • Preferred to work at night or at least in a gloomy environment. • He worked as a ghost writer for among others Houdini. • Suffered many psychological issues as a boy and because of it did not attend collage.
Obstacles • His father went mad with syphilis and lost all of his money early in Lovecraft's life. • Did not go to college due to chronic psychological illness when he was young.
