Overall objective • to provide guidance for a group who is attempting to secure a grant, low interest loans or even a gift for their project and to use the quickest method to get to the checkbook
Considerations • the type of project • the size of the project • knowledge of your project • contacts
Type of the project • Watershed group projects? Municipal projects? Corporate funding? Governmental funding? • Finding the correct person or department that handles the money is critical • Fellow IWLA members can be a very valuable ally • Website search engine or help tap can be very useful • Examples
Size of the project • A small project? Or a large one with multiple groups working for a common cause and seeking funding? • Volunteer groups • Big name environmental agencies • Small local chapters • Small donors • Examples
Know your project • Knowledge and excitement are vital • Need a consultant to get mega bucks • Help with the overall design and the details of the project • Add credibility to the project • Example
