  2. Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) • Vesicoureteral reflux is when urine is sent back up the ureters and back into the kidneys, due to dwelling of the bladder.

  3. How you get Vesicoureteral Reflux • VUR can occur in children with other urinary abnormalities. • VUR can occur in boys due to all the pressure that releases the urine. • Children who are born with neural defects may have VUR.

  4. What happens to the system and does it try to fix itself? • Your kidneys become swollen. • The body can heal itself within 5 years, although if the condition is worse a flap-valve apparatus will replace your sphincter to close off the bladder.

  5. What medicines are needed and is it curable? • No medicines are needed to help stop this disease. • This disease is not curable but can be treated by itself over time or with a flap-valve.
