Our aims • To balance challenge and support collaborative coaching relationships in schools in Hartlepool. • To ensure a consistent and bespoke approach for all learners • To respond to a diverse and differentiated learning community
The overarching aim is to develop a systemic approach to mentoring and coaching and, at the same time providing Authority support for sustained improvement in teaching and learning for ‘learners’ in Hartlepool schools.
Establishing a common set of values and standards for in-school CPD to provide a quality assured foundation for a range of school development activities • Building on the success of the CPD Strategy Group and the collaborative history of schools to co-develop a Hartlepool model for mentoring and coaching, which CPD and school leaders will own and value • Modelling a strategic role in partnership with schools in relation to CPD and school improvement • Providing high quality, motivating and portable professional development activities in the context of a range of initiatives including the Building Schools for the Future programme

Themes and purposes • Two themes: Performance Management and CPD Leadership. Both themes will draw upon the new professional standards for teachers, the new performance management arrangements and the National Framework for Mentoring and Coaching. • These themes will provide a frame of reference for developing systematic CPD strategies known to be linked with improved learning outcomes for adults and young people in schools.
Goals We will engage schools actively in: • Reviewing how CPD is experienced currently • Diagnosing specifically the aspects of CPD and mentoring and coaching that would be most supportive to current school priorities • Building awareness of current related activities and skills.
