1) Which Element has the lowest Ionization Energy and the Largest Radius?
Periodic Trends Notes and Instructions Scan the following QR Code to introduce yourself to Trends on the Periodic Table, answer the following questions, and check them with the KEY. You will have to download an mp3 file. After you finish the introduction to the Lesson go to the second slide of your notes: • What is the object of this lesson? • What three trends are you going to learn about in this lesson? • What does a trend on the periodic table mean?
Slide 2 – Periodic Trends Lab Obtain the Periodic Trends Lab and the Atomic Radius, Ionization, and electronegativity Periodic Tables from the Manipulatives Tray for CHEM (Periodic Trends) and complete the following steps: • Complete the Title, Pre-lab Questions, and the Observations on the lab and then CHECK them with the lab KEY!!! • Complete the Hypothesis, Results, Conclusion, Discussion, and Post-Lab Questions and then CHECK them with the KEY!!! • After your check the lab, check the lab off of your CHECKLIST and then scan the QR Code on the next slide to continue the lesson. • After you have checked the Lab and had it graded put back the Charts and Graphs in the Manipulatives Cabinet!!
Slide 3 – Electronegativity Scan QR Code Title of Video: Electronegativity Trends By mtchemers Answer these questions after the video on Youtube and CHECK them with the NOTES KEY: • Define Electronegativity? • How does Electronegativity change from left to right on the periodic table? • Which have lower electronegativity values, metals and non metals, and provide the reason why? • Within a group of the Periodic table how does Electronegativity change when going down? After the Questions complete slide 4 concerning Electronegativity!!!
