Pocket PC Guidelines Use ONLY YOUR OWN iPAQ, stylus, and charger. Use ONLY YOUR OWN files, and those that the teacher asks you to get from the teacher’s files. Bring your iPAQ, stylus, and charger to school everyday, unless the teacher gives you other directions. ALWAYS store your stylus in the iPAQ. ALWAYS rename files that you get from the teacher, beginning with your last name. Handle your iPAQ with care. Store your iPAQ and charger in a case, if you have one. Use your iPAQ ONLY for school-approved purposes. Any questions, don’t guess…. ASK A TEACHER OR THE PRINCIPAL!
Get a File from the Teacher Tap on Bluetooth icon (lower right corner on iPAQ.) Tap on Manager. Tap (and hold for the drop-down menu) on the files you need to see….either RM_13_TEACHER or RM_15_TEACHER. Tap Connect. You will see the contents of the teacher’s folder. Tap and hold on the file you need. Choose Get File. Close Bluetooth, and Open the File in Pocket Word.
Rename a File YOU MUST RENAME EVERY FILE YOU GET FROM THE TEACHER! The new file name will begin with your last name, (first name, too, if another student has the same last name as you,) then the original name of the file. Example: If you get a file from the teacher called “science project” and your last name is Piper, you will rename the file “Piper science project.” Open file in Pocket Word. Tap (and hold for drop-down menu) on the file you want to rename. Tap Rename/Move. Tap at the beginning of the file name that is highlighted on your screen, and refer to steps 2 and 3.
Send a File to the Teacher Tap on Bluetooth icon (lower right corner on iPAQ.) Tap on Manager. Tap (and hold for the drop-down menu) on the files you need to see….either RM_13_TEACHER or RM_15_TEACHER. Tap Connect. Tap on File (lower left corner on iPAQ) for the pop-up menu. Tap Send a File. (All of YOUR FILES will appear.) Make sure the file you want to send BEGINS WITH YOUR NAME. Tap the file you want to send to your teacher. Close Bluetooth.
Create New Folders In order to organize your files, you will create separate folders and move your documents into them. Open Pocket Word. At the top of the page, you will see “Pocket Word.” Under Pocket Word, you will see a picture of a file folder, and the name of a folder or “All Folders.” Tap the small down arrow by the name of the folder, or All Folders, to get a drop-down menu. At the bottom of the menu, tap on Add/Delete. Tap New. A new folder will appear, with the name highlighted. Change the name to the name of the folder you want to make, like Assignments, Spelling, Science, etc., by writing the new name in the box, then tapping anywhere outside the box. Tap ok.
Move Documents to New Folders Before moving a document, you must complete the steps to create a new folder, if you haven’t already done so. Open Pocket Word, or whatever program you are using. Tap on the down arrow near the top left of the screen to see the drop-down menu of your folders. Tap on All Folders. Tap and hold on the document you want to move. On the drop-down menu, tap Rename/Move. There will be 3 boxes that could be changed. The box you want is the one called “Folder.” Tap on the down arrow in the Folder box. Tap on the name of the folder in which you want to place the document, then tap ok. The document can now be found in the new folder and in All Folders.
