  2. THE PROGRESS OF THE FAITHFUL • The Process: Verses 1-4 is not the whole story! • And beside this… • Giving all diligence • Add: Supply • To your FAITH

THE PROGRESS OF THE FAITHFUL • The progress-- • Virtue—duty, determination, courage (Prov. 28:1; 31:10-31; Tit. 3:8) • Knowledge – the theme of 2 Peter (Eph. 5:17; Heb. 5:11-14) • Temperance – self-control (“One who holds himself in” – It takes knowledge, virtue, faith!! • Patience – endurance; does not give up thefaith (James 1:2-4; Luke 8:15)

  4. THE PROGRESS OF THE FAITHFUL • The Progress-- • Godliness – humble reverence and deep piety (Hebrews 12:28). See 1 Tim. 6:3; 2:2; Heb. 5:7; 2 Pet. 3:11. Patience results in this submission to God. • Brotherly kindness – brothers are: • Children of the same Father • Servants of the same Master • Members of the same Family • Travelers to the same Country • Heirs of the same Inheritance

  5. THE PROGRESS OF THE FAITHFUL • The Progress— • Love – The “crown and jewel of all graces”It is offered by deliberate choice!!

Positive “If” Be in you and abound (2 Thess. 1:3) NOT: Barren – ineffective Unfruitful – John 15:1-8 Knowledge: a higher knowledge “The beginning and ending of morality” Negative Some Christians are here Sees neither forward nor backward This disease is progressive and terminal!! Forgot “The Quality of God’s Way” THE TWO POSSIBILITIES

  7. THE ULTIMATE GOAL • THE NEED: Consider the danger • Be careful (Heb. 3:12-13) • Make calling and election sure – my responsibility! • THE GOAL: Stability • Get involved individually! • Never fall (stumble, as the blind and short-sighted)

  8. THE ULTIMATE GOAL • THE RESULT: Victory • Entrance shall be supplied • Abundantly – if we abound!! • Into the Everlasting Kingdom

  9. Does the Quality of God’s Way impress you enough to want to be a part of it?? Matthew 7:13,14
