  5. The main separator • Changes the way psychedelic rock is perceived-drugs are unnecessary to experience and appreciate the music

  6. Psychedelic Rock – peaked between ‘67 &‘69 • emphasis on blues, folk, jazz and sometimes country and reggae • Grateful Dead- pioneers of the jam band world • Pink Floyd • The Doors • Other subgenres: glam rock, hard rock/heavy metal- Led Zeppelin

  7. Far away from the “norm” with my age group • Musical characteristics:-lyrically: Pink Floyd’s conceptualization and Jim Morrison's wild, poetic lyrics-unique eclectic styles-experimentation-long improvisations

  8. -instrumentation-live performances- baritone/bass/tenor voices- seems complex and exhibits:”freedom”- free spirit: highly individual or unique attitude, lifestyle, or imagination, and forms their own opinions.
