  5. Problems with PowerPoint Presentations • Too many slides • Multimedia overkill • Too much text • Text too small or in caps • Presenters read from slides • Bad color combinations • Not what audience is expecting

  6. Effective Presenters • Know their audience • Plan ahead • Clear and to the point • Know their subject – don’t read slides • Use visuals to make an impact

  7. Avoid Too Much Text • KISS – Keep it short and simple. • Use the 5 x 5 rule – No more than five lines on a page and each line should be no more than five words. • Use short phrases rather than complete sentences. • Make certain each phrase is parallel in grammatical structure
