  1. What Causes Lower Back Pain from Running - How to Treat It? Every time you extend the limits of your physical activity, it leads to discomfort. A long run can leave you sore the next morning. A moderate level of soreness can help to increase the physical capacity of the body; however, back pain after a run can be a symptom of an underlying issue. In many cases, running cannot be the direct cause of running. However, it has been observed that athletes, regular runners, and others experience less back pain than any other person. However, running exacerbates the symptoms of back pain that includes: Aching muscles Pain when you bend your back Severe pain Pain when lifting Some of the common health conditions that can cause back pain include hyperlordosis, sprains, herniated disc, and muscle strains. Hyperlordosis - It is a type of poor posture which is caused due to exaggerated inward curve of the spine in the lower back. Hyperlordosis causes the bottom to push out and

  2. the stomach to lean forward. Hyperlordosis is usually caused due to injury to the spine, structural issues, rickets, obesity, injury to the spine, and neuromuscular diseases.   Muscle strains and sprains - Excess physical activity leads to too much stress and tear of the muscles and ligaments. This pain results in stiffness, muscle spasms, and pain.   Herniated disc - With age, the spinal disc experiences excessive wear and tear as the discs absorb the shock of various physical activities such as running. Thus, when the disc gets weakened it causes lower back pain while running. The treatment options for the lower back include home care and medical treatment. Initially, lower back pain can be treated by home care, but if the pain persists for a longer time then you may need immediate medical attention. Homecare - Homecare methods for the treatment of lower back pain are useful for the first 72 hours after the pain begins. For homecare, you should use ice and heat packs to your lower back and relax the muscles. Also, you can take over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen to get relief from the lower back pain. In addition, you can apply back pain cream and follow RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) protocol to relieve the pain. Omnigel is one of the best back pain relief cream commercially available.   Medical treatment - Other than running, lower back pain usually occurs due to various other medical conditions, that includes - spinal cord misalignment, pinched nerves, and muscle strain. Some of the medications prescribed by the doctor for the treatment of lower back pain are: oMuscle relaxants oSteroids to reduce inflammation oCorticosteroid injections oNarcotic drugs oNonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs o o Surgery - In severe lower back pain cases surgery would be necessary. Surgery is a treatment option when all the other options fail to provide relief from the pain. Some of the surgical options for the treatment of lower back pain are discectomy, foraminotomy, nucleoplasty, spinal fusion, laminectomy, and others.
