  7. James says, “God resists the proud” God is set against those who presumptuously believe they are better or deserve more than others. How have you seen “pride” at work?

  12. “Submit to God” (James 4:7) Submit means more than obedience. It means to “subject” oneself.

  14. Jude 1:9 “But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

  15. Or in others words… I’ll leave the fighting to God.

  16. “Resist the devil” (James 4:7) “Resist” is a military term. It means “to take a stand against” It means “to withstand an attack”

  17. Reflection In light of the 4th chapter of James, how does the devil operate (or battles us)?

  19. He whispers in our ears He plants thoughts, suggestions, and ideas He will tell us things our pride loves to hear He wants to stir up conflict He is the author of confusion He wants to divide the Body of Christ

  20. “Draw near to God” (Vs. 8) This terminology describes the particular function of priests in the Old Testament ”and the room facing north is for the priests who guard the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who are the only Levites who may draw near to the Lord to minister before him.” (Ezekiel 40:46)

  22. It is just that simple. Submit, resist the devil, draw near to God. For something that appears so simple, why isn’t it?

  23. Sin Sins of commission and sins of omission. What are you most guilty of?

  24. Jesus most serious words of condemnation are aimed at sins of omission. See Matthew 25:31-46
