June 4th 2009 ACTIVITY REPORT March 2009-June 2009 Project Title: “European Education with ICT”
What activities have been carried out by the partnership till now? • During the period March 2009-Ferbruary 2009 of the project all the partner schools carried out the same kind of activities: March 2009 • The contest for logo selection was organized and the best logo design was chosen by the committee of students and teachers at each schools. • The nine logos were collected by the main coordinator and he distributed them to the participating countries’ coordinators that were able to vote. • We are really proud toannounce that the award-winning contest was created byLithuania. • Thewinning logo symbolises the whole project and it was added to T-shirts and all thedocuments and reports which will be created in the future.
What activities have been carried out by the partnership till now? April 2009 • Internet week was held in each school. As a preparatory work all coordinators made a detailed calendar with activities and exchange some materials (PP slide show “History of computing”; a lot of educational games, tests, quizzes, puzzles and educational web sites), some countries organized a tour to TV and Internet Centers.
What activities have been carried out by the partnership till now? May 2009 • Open Lessons have been held in each partner’s school. Teachers from different subject areas developed their lesson plans using a computer program (Power Point) and demonstrated it their school community. After each open lessonthere was a session for collective reflection; all its observers were invited to fill in a kind of questionnaire where they expressed their opinions about this activity.
What activities have been carried out by the partnership till now? June 2009 In order to evaluate our project well, we made some important evaluation instruments: • Questionnaire for the participating students in project meetings(The objective of this questionnaire is to record students opinion about the Comeniusproject exchange in which they participated). • Questionnaire for teachers that record and monitor project’s evolution throughout the year. • The moments from the project meeting I would like to share with you. • Project year and meetings evaluation: where all participants should list the positive and negative aspects of the common work. It also consists of “communication” sector where we should write about the information we got before and during the project’s start & meetings. In the column “next steps” we should write what you are going to do after the meetings and some suggestions.
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • After a year of cooperation with Bulgarian, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Slovak, Hungarian, Czech Republic and Lithuanian partners, the European Comenius School Partnership Project, titled “European Education with ICT”, came to its first year conclusion. • The above-mentioned reference for the school year 2008-2009 isa brief summary of the reportsalready submitted and held by all partners that illustrates in greater detail the work, the meetings has been organized and conducted during first project year.
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • Proposed by the Bulgarian Secondary School “Dimitar Talev”, located in Dobrich, this project started in the school year 2008-2009, having eight partners from different European regions: • Kampanis High School, Kampanis, Kilkis, Greece • Istituto di Istruzione “Enrico Mattei”, Conselve, Italy • Gymnázium Trebišov, Trebišov, Slovakia, • Garliavos Juozo Lukšos gimnazija, Garliava, Lithuania • Serik IMKB AOTM Lisesi, Antalya, Turkey • I Béla Gimnázium és Informatikai Szakközépiskola, Szekszárd, Hungary • Základní škola a Mateřská škola, Ostrava-Hrabůvka, Czech Republic • Colegio Saint Lluis De Pla I Amell Bosch, Begues, Spain
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • During the first project year the following activities took place in our partnership and distribution of the project tasks have been made: • We were able to organize three very successful work meetings: in Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria; • We were able to carry out all project activities efficiently and according to our plan; • The project activities help both teachers and students to improvetheir school achievements through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in school & in their daily life; • We encourageall participantsto use Internet communication for our collaborative work. As a result, during the project year, we have an effective communication each other on 3 levels: between project coordinators, between individual students, and as a group between teachers & students via different ICT (e-mails, school websites, Facebook blog,Picasa platform, Skype, sms, TV & radio channels, video clips).
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • We were able to encourageinteraction and cooperation among pupils and teachers from participating countries and they build long-lasted friendship & respect each otherthrough European Education. • We were able to study the Educational Systems in the host schools during project meetings. • We also could learn the school history and traditionsof our partners through project activities and meetings. • Lesson observations were conductedin the host schools where foreign students were able to learn a lot about theeveryday school life and observe the work of host teachers and their classmates.
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • We were able to involve successfully in the project all school community: our students took a great part in all project tasks: they made PP slide shows that were presented (the results of their work) during 3 work meetings; poster and slogan’s designs about December 08; filled in questionnaire about Internet survey in January 09; collect information about our educational resources in February 09; take part in the creation of project logo design in March 09; play a lot of educational games and visited ICT centers during Internet week in April 09, observe a lot of interesting PP slide shows in different subject areas during Open Lesson activity in May 09; filled in questionnaire for the creation project evaluation in June 09; took photos from all project events; • Teachers helped its coordinator in each school in many ways too. They not only performed the same kind of activities like their students but also participate in various courses organized for them (IT and English courses). Now teaching staff involved in the projectfeel very confident and proud. Due to their practical experience theydevelop professionally in their IT and English abilities and learn a lot of teaching techniques from partner colleagues and students.
How effective was the collaboration between the participating institutions? • The two problems that we should solve till the meeting in Bulgaria: students’ mobility and project’s evaluation are solved now. For the work meeting in Bulgaria all partner schools bring students and their total number: 43 students and 26 teachers, maybe makes this Comenius meeting the biggest one in Bulgaria this year. We also created some evaluation instruments that help us to measure the quality of our work fully for the entire two years course. Now we have a successful project evaluation. Both students and teachers were able to estimate the project so far and gave their feedback. They filled out some evaluation forms with a wide conext. Finally, we made Teacher and Student’s Portfolio that give us to have a clear view of our results and achievements. • During the work meeting in Bulgaria, we showed and discussed the evaluation forms about what we have accomplished sofar and made arrangements with regard to activities and tasks that need to be carriedout until the fourth meeting.
Some final conclusions: • Meeting other young people from other countries has urged our students to learn other European languages and other cultures. As teachers, we have taught them how to use the new Information technologies available, which can be utilized to prepare wide and personalized works. • This project has also given the opportunity to our students to visit places of great interest from the historical, architectural and folkloristic point of view, making them realize the magnificence of the Ottoman, Roman Empires and Greek culture in Antalya region, to learn a lot about Bulgarian history, culture and traditions.
In the name of all the partners: We have been working in an atmosphere of harmony, serenity and professionalism!
We have the great pleasure in declaring that the project has given us the opportunity of an extraordinary experience, pleasure & joy !
