  3. An imperative sentence is a sentence that gives advice or instructions. It always has a verb that expresses a request or command. An imperative sentence always ends with a period or an explanation point. • As you have already learned a sentence must contain a subject and a verb. In an imperative sentence, the subject is often left out. • Here are some examples of an imperative sentence • Give me the book. • Clean your room. • Finish your homework! • Who or what is the subject of these sentences? The subject of most imperative sentences is you. So the sentences are really saying: • You give me the book. • Youclean your room. • You finish your homework!
