Welcome Traveler, I look forward to having you in my class this year. I hope you will find it both interesting and enjoyable. However, you must understand that time travel is dangerous business. Please take the time to examine the policies and procedures in this booklet. Thank you. -Mr. Woodside EXTRAS HiSTORY World History Adventure World History Adventure The Leaderboard and High Scores Your class begins each week with 100 points. If your class misbehaves, points will be taken away. At the end of the week the points are added to the leaderboard. Points are also added for having the best class average on tests, everyone completing an assignment, and more. At certain times throughout the year the class with the highest score will get a party or some other class prize. EMERGENGY NEWS FLASH! Humanity's future is in danger! As time has passed, people have forgotten what it means to be human. Why did we let this happen? If something isn’t done quickly, we will be DOOMED to repeat the mistakes of our ancestors. Before we embark on this journey read the following note from your Time Technician and Teacher, Mr. Woodside. d We must travel back through time and explore 12 unique worlds in order to restore our knowledge and save humanity from certain DOOM! Minigames Every once in a while a minigame will appear in the notes. I will ask you a series of questions and your class will have a chance to rack up some serious points. Cheats Throughout each world there will be opportunities to unlock cheats (answers to test questions). t Achievements Each week I will have a hidden goal for my classes. If a class accomplishes this secret feat, that class will receive 1,000 bonus points. 8 1

World History Adventure World History Adventure Quizzes (50 points) Each quiz has ten multiple choice questions, ten true/false questions, and one mini-essay question. Tests (100 points) Every six weeks all teachers in the Social Studies Department give a Standards-based Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT). b Form 2 lines (one against the wall and the other on the crack in the concrete). Enter quietly and begin copying the agenda immediately in your agenda. a In order to use the restroom, get a drink, go to the nurse, etc. you must get permission and then fill out the Hallway Passport section in the back of your agenda. Choose Your Own Adventure (40-80 points) After each unit students receive a list of possible assignments/projects. They get to choose which ones they complete, and they may complete more than I ask for extra credit. r Remain seated until excused. Do not put away materials until instructed. Record all due dates, class work assignments, and homework in your agenda. I will write the agenda on the board for you to copy. Work is to be done neatly in pencil or blue/black ink. Papers that are torn out of notebooks, folded, crumpled, burned, mangled, or moist will NOT be accepted. 2 7

World History Adventure World History Adventure We will explore each of the 12 worlds of 7th Grade World History using the following activities. Late work will receive a 30% penalty regardless of the number of days it is late and will only be accepted during the 6 week period in which it was assigned. Unit Walk (20 points – check system) This assignment prepares students for what is to come in the Unit and focuses on reading maps/charts and analyzing pictures. Notes (??? points depending on the Unit) These are the meat and potatoes of my class. This is where I cover all of the state standards. Every quiz question is addressed at some point in the notes. If students study their notes, there is no excuse for failing a quiz. A printout listing each student’s grade and assignment record will be sent home periodically. Students are responsible for getting this signed by a parent/guardian and returned to me. You are responsible for getting missed work and you must do so the day you return. There are three ways to get make-up work: 1) From the Make-up Folders on the wall. 2) Copy from a friend. 3) From my website www.mrwoodside.com. Work missed due to absences will be accepted until the end of the current Unit of study. f d Labs (20 points – check system) These include historical simulations, class discussions, film notes, etc. They vary from unit to unit but are all designed to bring the unit alive. Study Guides (20 points – check system) Once completed properly, the study guide will include every answer for the unit quiz. 6 3
1 RULES 2 CONSEQUENCES RULES AND CONSEQUENCES GRADING POLICIES World History Adventure World History Adventure Basic classwork assignments and labs will be graded using a check system. Check Minus = 10 points (this is half credit, an F) Check = 15 points (this is 75% credit, a C) Check Plus = 20 points (this is full credit, an A+) Check Plus Plus = 25 points (this is an A+ with extra credit for exemplary work) All other assignments will have the points written directly on them. The Grade Scale 100%-90% = A 89%-80% = B 79%-70% = C 69%-58% = D 57%-00% = F 1. Be seated and working when the bell rings. 2. Follow directions the first time they are given. 3. Complete all personal grooming before class begins. 4. Do not disrupt other students in any way. 5. Follow all other school rules.
