  2. INTRODUCTION Wave power is all about getting energy from waves there are many different types of wave power such as The Oyster, and another one that works likes a swimming pool and one that has pipes that bob up and down to create waves and as the hinges bend it pumps hydraulic fluid that drives the generators.

  3. THE OYSTER The Oyster wave power technology captures waves near shore and collects energy from the waves that it has collected. It then changes energy into clean sustainable electricity. The Oyster is a waved-powered pump that pushes very high pressured water that drives the onshore hydro-electric turbine. Wave Power is created by wind blowing on the sea surface and then far and wide. The winds constant movement on the waves transmits energy into waves. These waves can travel far distances with little loss of energy before hitting shore. This is how the Oyster converts energy into electricity.

  4. THE SWIMMING POOL METHOD The swimming pool method is one of the most effective ways of getting energy from waves. In a normal swimming pool air is blown in and out of the chamber next to the swimming pool. This makes the water bob up and down making waves. In a wave power station the waves arriving make the water in the chamber to rise and fall and that means the air is forced out and in the hole at the top of the chamber. There is a turbine placed in the hole and is turned by the rushing air. A generator is connected and is used used to create electricity.

  5. PELAMIS The Pelamis absorbs energy from the ocean waves and converts the energy into electricity. The long tube floats up and down. It is made up of a number of cylinder sections connected together by hinges. As waves come the sections flex and when one bends all the others follow. At each point there is hydraulic cylinders which pumps hydraulic fluid into high pressured accumulators. It then goes into the generator and is turned into electricity. After it is passed through a dry and clean cable. Now it is passed back to shore for us to use.
