What are Imperatives? • Imperative is used in commands. • Singular: Formed by dropping –re from 2nd principal part of verb. • Plural: Formed by dropping –re from 2nd principal part of verb and adding –te.
Examples • porto, portare, portavi • Imperative: porta, portate • pendeo, pendere, pependi • Imperative: pende, pendete • consido, considere, consedi • Imperative: conside, considite • audio, audire, audivi • Imperative: audi, audite
What is Vocative Case? • When you speak directly to some one (when you address them). • Singular: When you’re talking to one person. • Plural: When you’re talking to more than one person. • Has the same form as nominative case (both singular and plural) • EXCEPTION: 2nddeclinsion nouns that end in –us form vocative singular by dropping –us and adding –e. Names that end in –ius, drop –ius, add long i
