Easy Debate Affirmative Format I. Intro – attention getter and thesis II. A problem A. The harms of the problem – “bad thing” B. the cause of it (inherency) C. why it won’t go away or is getting worse – bad thing(s) will happen w/o change III. Another problem A. The harms of the problem – “bad thing” B. the cause of it (inherency) C. why it won’t go away or is getting worse– bad thing(s) will happen w/o change IV. A plan or solution to the problem(s) – mandates and planks A. Who will do it B. How it will be done C. What it may cost in money or time etc. V. Advantages to doing the plan – why change is good and why it is better for change than leaving things the way they are A. Proof that there are solutions that work B. Why/how those solutions are better than what is happening now VI. Conclusion A. restate the problem B. restate that there is/are solution(s) C. Strongly tell the reader that the solutions must be done NOW or else bad things will continue to happen – perhaps even the end of life as we know it D. Do it now to make the world a better place.
