Overview of Testing Procedures • Refer to Transcription Test files on CD for the letterhead file for each test document. • Names are part of the dictation, but having these file names earlier will be helpful. • Refer to the "Instructions for Taking a Transcription Test" document provided by your instructor when transcribing the tests.
Transcription Tests—Tips Copy the audio files for the tests to a folder on the hard drive or to a flash drive. Insert the Transcription CD. From your desktop or Start menu, open Express Scribe or Windows Media Player.
Transcription Tests—Tips (Continued) • From the File menu, select Open and browse to the audio files for the test. Windows Media Player (Windows XP Users): • To display the File menu, select the Layout Options drop-down arrow and choose Navigation.
Transcription Tests—Tips (Continued) • Play the directions on the audio file to learn which letterhead or form you will use. • From your desktop: • Go to My Computer. • Right-click on the drive with the Transcription CD and open it. • Open the Wordfolder. • It contains the letterhead or form you need.
Transcription Tests—Tips (Continued) • Scroll through the files and double-click on the appropriate file, which will open in Word. • Letterheads for the tests begin with TE.
Transcription Tests—Tips (Continued) • Key the document on the letterhead/form. • When the dictation ends: • Pause the audio file. • Save the document file • Proofread it carefully • Press Play and key the remaining test documents; be sure to save each document file. • Submit the test documents as directed by your instructor.
