  3. The Father Of Biochemistry • In 1828, Friedrich Wöhler published a paper on the synthesis of urea, proving that organic compounds can be created artificially.

  6. Other Areas of Biochemistry • The biochemistry of cell metabolism and the endocrine system also can be studied. Other areas of biochemistry include the genetic code (DNA, RNA), protein synthesis, cell membrane transport, and signal transduction.

  7. What Does A Biochemist Do? • Biochemists have many potential roles within the scientific community, including working with agriculture, pharmaceutical industry and crime labs. An example is that they find new ways to diagnose and treat disease in humans including potentially creating anti-cancer agents and other for possible treatments for disease.
